KRUGERVILLE, TEXAS — A routine school bus violation stop in Krugerville unraveled into multiple arrests and citations after a semi-truck passed a school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm while children were actively boarding — and the driver was found to have no valid license of any kind and an active warrant for driving while intoxicated.
Krugerville Police Department initiated the traffic stop and discovered the driver had no valid driver’s license and was wanted on DWI-related charges. He was cited for the school bus violation and arrested on the outstanding warrant.
When the truck’s owner arrived to retrieve the vehicle, police found he held only a commercial learner’s permit — which does not authorize solo operation or retrieval of a commercial truck. The owner was cited for hiring and permitting an unlicensed driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle. The truck was impounded.
“This incident highlights the critical importance of proper licensing, adherence to school bus safety laws, and responsible commercial vehicle operation — especially when the safety of children is put at risk,” KPD said.
