56-Year-Old Truck Driver Dies After Concrete Truck Veers Off Road and Overturns in Oconee County, South Carolina

SENECA, SOUTH CAROLINA — A concrete truck driver died Monday morning after his vehicle veered off the road and overturned in Oconee County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:06 a.m. on Friendship Road near Rodeo Drive. A 2019 Mack concrete truck was traveling southbound when it drifted off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The driver, Robert James Maxwell, 56, of Hartwell, Georgia, died at the scene. The Oconee County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
