PENSACOLA, FLORIDA — A truck driver walked away without injury Wednesday afternoon after his semi fishtailed in light rain on northbound Interstate 110 and went off an elevated section of the highway, plummeting to the ground below.
Pensacola Fire Department units responded to the single-vehicle crash on August 12. The driver, identified as Jonathan Crenshaw, told local media he felt the back of the rig begin to slide in what he described as a little rain before losing control.
“Next thing you know I’m seeing everything spin and then BOOM. I climbed out. It’s still kinda impossible,” Crenshaw said.
No extrication was needed and no hazards were found with the truck. Crenshaw was the only occupant and was not injured. The Florida Department of Transportation was notified of damage to the overpass caused by the crash. Florida Highway Patrol arrived and took control of the scene. Pensacola Police Department and Escambia EMS also assisted.
