SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA — Firefighters extricated a driver whose vehicle became pinned under the trailer of an Amazon tractor-trailer on Route 58 eastbound late Thursday night, and the patient was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The City of Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue responded at 11:49 p.m. on April 24, 2026, to a two-vehicle crash with entrapment between the Pruden Boulevard and Godwin Boulevard exits. Firefighters freed the single occupant from the vehicle, which was pinned under the Amazon trailer. Suffolk Fire paramedics treated the patient at the scene before Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance airlifted them to an area hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Responding units included Battalion 1, Car 10, Engine 6, Ladder 6, Rescue 1, Medic 6, EMS 1, Safety 1, Suffolk Police Department, and Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.
