Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Finds Five Critical Defects During Level I Inspection — Deflated Suspension, Air Leaks, Separated Reservoir, and Leaking Differential

0

TENNESSEE — A Tennessee Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Plus East Region Trooper placed a trailer out of service after a Level I inspection uncovered five serious safety defects on March 23, 2026.

The inspection revealed the following violations:

• Deflated air suspension on the trailer
• Audible air leak at the glad hand connection fitting
• Audible air leak on axle 2 driver side brake chamber
• Air reservoir separated from its mounting point
• Leaking differential

THP pulled the trailer from service immediately. The severity of the defects and the risk they posed to the public left no other option. The trailer must stay out of service until all defects are properly repaired.

“Routine inspections like this help prevent potential crashes and mechanical failures, keeping Tennessee’s roadways safe for everyone,” THP said. “Great work by our MC+ East Region Trooper for staying vigilant and committed to commercial vehicle safety.”

Driver Survives After Bucket Truck Goes Over Side of 135-Foot Calcasieu River Bridge While Swerving to Avoid Debris From Previous Crash

0

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA — A bucket truck driver walked away uninjured Sunday morning after swerving to avoid debris on the Calcasieu River Bridge and going over the side of the 135-foot bridge along Interstate 10.

The chain of events started at approximately 6:15 a.m. on March 22. A single vehicle struck a barrier in the eastbound lanes of the bridge, triggering a pileup involving at least four other vehicles. Lake Charles Police responded to the scene. While officers worked the initial crash, a bucket truck driver swerved to avoid debris in the roadway, crossed into westbound traffic, and went over the side of the bridge near the foot of the structure. The truck did not fall the full 135-foot height of the bridge. The driver was not hurt. Three people from the initial pileup were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

20-Year-Old Arrested After 120-MPH Chase Ends in Fiery Crash That Flipped Tractor-Trailer and Trapped Civilian in Burning Car – Driver Says He Flees to “Blow Off Steam”

0

PARADISE TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA — A 20-year-old driver fleeing Pennsylvania State Police at more than 120 mph ran a stop sign and slammed into a tractor-trailer Sunday evening, flipping it onto a civilian sedan and triggering a three-vehicle fire that sent four people to the hospital.

Pennsylvania State Police arrested Jesus Juarez-Juarez, 20, of Atglen, Chester County. When asked why he fled, he told troopers he drives to “blow off steam.”

The Chase

Just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, a trooper patrolling in the parking lot of CJ’s Automotive and Towing on Black Horse Road spotted two silver Infiniti sedans flying down Strasburg Road at more than 100 mph. The trooper pulled out and activated emergency lights and sirens. Both cars sped away. The pursuit reached speeds exceeding 120 mph heading east on Strasburg Road.

One sedan attempted a left turn onto South Vintage Road, hit a berm, briefly lost control, then regained it and kept running north at over 100 mph. Along the way, Juarez-Juarez passed eight vehicles, a horse and buggy, and a bicyclist.

The Crash

The sedan blew through a stop sign at South Vintage Road and Lincoln Highway East. It slammed into a tractor-trailer at full speed. The force of the impact flipped the tractor-trailer into the westbound lanes, where it struck a civilian Lincoln sedan. All three vehicles — the fleeing sedan, the tractor-trailer, and the civilian sedan — caught fire simultaneously.

The driver of the civilian sedan was trapped inside. Bystanders helped extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived and freed the driver. Ohio Owner-Operator Among Three Indicted After Federal Agents Find 8 Kilos of Cocaine Hidden in Peterbilt Truck — Part of $4 Million Drug Ring Trafficking Meth, Fentanyl, and Cocaine

0

AKRON, OHIO — Federal agents broke up a Northeast Ohio drug trafficking ring that used a Peterbilt semi-truck to move cocaine. Three Akron men face indictment — including the owner of House Brothers Trucking. The bust yielded over $4 million in illegal drugs, nearly a quarter million dollars in cash, and an arsenal of firearms.

On March 19, 2026, a federal grand jury indicted Erin House, 53, Ishmael Wahid, 52, and Roy Wimberly, 50. The three men allegedly ran a drug distribution operation from April 2025 through February 2026. Their territory covered Summit County and surrounding regions of Northeast Ohio. The drugs they moved included methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.

How the Trucking Connection Unraveled

Investigators found that Wahid regularly communicated with House. House owned House Brothers Trucking. That connection cracked the case open. During a traffic stop on Interstate 71 in Medina County, agents searched House’s Peterbilt semi-truck. They found 8 kilograms of cocaine and $144,000 in cash hidden in a compartment. House Brothers Trucking owned the vehicle.

Separately, agents searched a public storage facility Wahid rented. Inside, they found 25 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1 kilogram of cocaine, and 5 kilograms of fentanyl. Officers later arrested Wahid at another traffic stop. They seized additional drugs and more than $84,000 in cash from his vehicle.

A court-authorized search of Wimberly’s residence turned up 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, and a large collection of firearms.

Total Seizures

Federal agents seized the following throughout the investigation:

• Approximately 27 kilograms of methamphetamine
• Approximately 5 kilograms of fentanyl
• Approximately 9 kilograms of cocaine
• $229,000+ in cash
• DPMS AR Rifle, .223 caliber
• Bushmaster Carbon 15 Rifle, .223 caliber
• Glenfield Model 20 Rifle
• Ithaca Shotgun Model 37
• Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol
• Smith & Wesson M&P .380 pistol (serial number removed)
• Kahr CW45 .45 caliber pistol
• Ruger PC Rifle
• Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun

The Charges

All three men face conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. Each faces additional charges.

House faces possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Wahid faces distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, and felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. His prior convictions include cocaine conspiracy in 1996, cocaine possession in 2003, illegal drug manufacturing in 2003, and heroin and cocaine conspiracy in 2015.

Wimberly faces distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and felon in possession of a firearm. He carries a prior murder conviction from 1996.

Homeland Security Investigations Cleveland Office led the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph P. Dangelo is prosecuting the case for the Northern District of Ohio.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Illinois Jury Convicts California Truck Driver Who Said He Had No Idea $10.6 Million in Cocaine Was in His Trailer — Phone Messages Suggested He Was a Drug Mule; Faces Up to 120 Years

0

MCLEAN COUNTY, ILLINOIS — A McLean County jury convicted a California truck driver Thursday in one of the largest cocaine cases the county has ever seen. Nearly 234 pounds of cocaine — worth $10.6 million on the street — sat hidden in four large garbage bags inside his refrigerated trailer.

Jobanpreet Singh, 30, now faces 30 to 120 years in prison. The jury found him guilty of controlled substance trafficking and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He must serve 75 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Circuit Judge William Yoder will sentence him on May 28.

The Traffic Stop

On April 17, 2025, an Illinois State Police trooper pulled Singh over on eastbound Interstate 74 at the LeRoy exit. Singh was hauling a refrigerator truck supposedly carrying poultry. Right away, something seemed off. Singh took a significant amount of time to pull over. When officers questioned him, he showed visible signs of nervousness, according to McLean County State’s Attorney Erika Reynolds.

A K-9 officer then alerted to drugs inside the trailer. Officers searched and pulled out four large black garbage bags packed with cocaine. The total came to nearly 234 pounds — among the largest drug seizures in McLean County history. For context, the previous record stood at 238 pounds, seized back in 2009.

Singh’s Defense

Singh told authorities he had no idea the drugs were in his trailer. He claimed he had picked up two loads of produce and never spotted the garbage bags during his pre-trip inspection. Investigators, however, weren’t buying it.

A search of Singh’s cell phone turned up communications about hauling loads across the country for $5,400. Those messages, Reynolds said, pointed directly to Singh working as a drug mule.

What Prosecutors Said

“Thank you to the Illinois State Police for interdicting this vehicle and making sure these narcotics never made it on the street to poison our community,” Reynolds said. She also credited Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Williams for her dedication to the case.
