We may use confidential or anonymous sources when:
- The information is newsworthy.
- The source is reasonably positioned to know the information.
- There is a legitimate reason to protect the source’s identity.

The use of an anonymous source does not remove our responsibility to assess credibility and context.
4. User-Submitted Photos, Videos, and Information

Depending on the circumstances, we may:
- Correct the article.
- Update developing information.
- Add additional context.

When possible, include:

7. Fairness and Right of Reply
When a story contains significant allegations concerning an identifiable person, company, carrier, organization, or public entity, we aim, when practical and appropriate, to seek relevant context or a response.
When a meaningful response is received after publication, we may update the story where appropriate.
A request for comment does not guarantee that every response will be published in full.
American Truck DriversĀ® retains editorial control over:
- Relevance.
- Length.
- Context.
- Placement.
- Publication decisions.
8. News, Analysis, Opinion, and Community Content
We aim to distinguish independent news reporting from:
- Analysis.
- Commentary.
- Opinion.
- Advertising.
- Sponsored material.
- User-generated Community content.
Analysis may contain interpretation and context but should remain grounded in identifiable information and sources.
Community Content
Posts, comments, replies, reactions, and other material published by users through the Community or comment features represent the views of the users who posted them.
User-generated Community content is not automatically an editorial position of American Truck DriversĀ®.
American Truck Drivers Inc. may moderate or remove Community content according to our Terms, policies, applicable law, and platform rules.
9. Headlines, Images, Video, and Context
Headlines, thumbnails, captions, images, video descriptions, push-notification text, and social-media descriptions should fairly represent the underlying content.
We aim to avoid:
- Intentionally misleading headlines.
- Materially deceptive thumbnails.
- Editing that materially changes the meaning of original material.
- Presenting unrelated footage as if it depicts the reported event.
Images or video may sometimes be:
- Cropped.
- Resized.
- Blurred.
- Captioned.
- Edited for length.
- Adjusted for technical presentation.
Such changes should not intentionally create a materially false impression of the underlying event.
10. Graphic, Sensitive, or Disturbing Content
Trucking and transportation news may sometimes involve:
- Serious crashes.
- Injuries.
- Deaths.
- Fires.
- Emergency incidents.
- Crime.
- Other disturbing events.
When deciding whether and how to publish sensitive material, we consider factors including:
- News value.
- Public interest.
- Privacy.
- Dignity.
- Safety.
- The possibility of unnecessary harm.
Where appropriate, we may use:
- Content warnings.
- Cropping.
- Blurring.
- Alternative thumbnails.
- Limited display of graphic material.
- Other editorial measures.
11. Privacy, Dignity, and Sensitive Information
Newsworthiness does not eliminate privacy considerations.
We consider the public interest before publishing sensitive personal information, particularly where information concerns:
- Victims.
- Minors.
- Medical information.
- Private addresses.
- Personal contact information.
- Sensitive family circumstances.
- Other information that may create unnecessary harm.
Privacy and account-data requests are handled according to our:
- Privacy Policy
- Account Deletion procedures
- Applicable law
- Applicable submission authorizations
An account-deletion request and an editorial removal request are not necessarily the same thing.
12. Embedded and Third-Party Content
American Truck DriversĀ® may include or display content from third-party platforms such as:
- YouTube.
- Facebook / Meta.
- Instagram.
- X.
- TikTok.
- Vimeo.
- Other relevant platforms.
The presence of embedded or linked third-party material does not mean that American Truck Drivers Inc. created or independently endorses every statement associated with that content.
Where third-party material is important to a story, we aim to provide appropriate context.
Third-party platforms retain responsibility for their own services, systems, terms, and content policies.
13. Advertising and Sponsored Content
American Truck DriversĀ® may display advertising and sponsored content through its website and mobile application.
Advertising may include:
- ATD / Sponsor Ads sold or managed directly by American Truck Drivers Inc.
- Google AdMob advertising.
- Sponsored links.
- Sponsored images or video.
- Other third-party advertising providers that may be enabled in the future.
Advertising helps support the operation and development of American Truck DriversĀ®.
Clear Separation From Editorial Content
Paid advertising and sponsored material should be distinguishable from independent editorial reporting.
Where appropriate, advertising may be identified using labels such as:
- Sponsored.
- Sponsored by.
- Ad.
- Other appropriate advertising disclosures.
Advertising placement within a feed, article, or video does not convert surrounding independent editorial material into sponsored content.
ATD / Sponsor Ads
American Truck Drivers Inc. may sell advertising directly to sponsors and businesses.
Direct advertising may appear within:
- Home.
- News feeds.
- Media feeds.
- News articles.
- American Truck DriversĀ®-hosted App Videos.

- Videos.

- Calls to action.
- Links.
Google AdMob and Other Advertising Networks
The American Truck DriversĀ® mobile app may also display advertising from Google AdMob or other advertising providers.
Third-party advertisements are selected and delivered through systems operated by those providers.
The appearance of a third-party advertisement does not mean that American Truck DriversĀ® endorses the advertiser, product, service, claim, or offer.
Advertising Rotation
Advertising positions may rotate between:
- ATD / Sponsor Ads.
- Google advertising.
- Other eligible advertising sources.
The availability or priority of advertising does not determine our independent editorial decisions.
14. Video Advertising
American Truck DriversĀ®-hosted App Videos may include sponsor advertising before, during, or after playback.
These locations may include:
- Pre-roll.
- Mid-roll.
- Post-roll.
The application may limit the number of advertisements shown during an individual video viewing session in order to balance advertising with user experience.
Advertising associated with third-party video platforms such as YouTube is independently controlled by those platforms.
15. Editorial Independence
Advertising, sponsorships, business relationships, carriers, political organizations, government agencies, technology providers, and other outside parties do not receive control over our independent news judgment merely because they have a commercial or other relationship with American Truck Drivers Inc.
An advertiser or sponsor does not automatically receive the right to:
- Approve unrelated editorial coverage before publication.
- Prevent legitimate reporting.
- Require favorable news coverage.
- Suppress legitimate criticism.
- Determine unrelated headlines.
- Control independent editorial conclusions.
Our goal is to make editorial decisions based on:
- News value.
- Accuracy.
- Relevance.
- Public interest.
- Importance to professional drivers and the trucking community.
Advertising decisions and editorial decisions are intended to remain separate.
16. Conflicts of Interest
Editors, writers, and contributors should avoid undisclosed financial or personal conflicts that could materially affect editorial judgment.
When a relevant conflict cannot reasonably be avoided, we aim to disclose it where disclosure is necessary for readers to understand the coverage.
A commercial relationship with a company does not automatically prevent legitimate coverage of that company.
Likewise, coverage of a company does not automatically imply a commercial relationship.
17. Removal and Unpublishing Requests
American Truck DriversĀ® considers requests to:
- Correct content.
- Update content.
- Remove content.
- Unpublish content.
- De-identify content.
Requests are evaluated individually.
Relevant factors may include:
- Accuracy.
- Public interest.
- Privacy.
- Safety.
- Legal requirements.
- Source protection.
- The nature of the material.
- Passage of time.
- Editorial significance.
- Applicable licenses or permissions.
- Applicable platform requirements.
We do not guarantee that published editorial material will be removed solely because a person later prefers that accurate reporting no longer be available.
Where legitimate privacy, legal, safety, or factual concerns exist, we will evaluate them responsibly.
18. Account Deletion and Published Editorial Material
Deleting an American Truck DriversĀ® user account and removing published editorial material are separate processes.
Account deletion removes or de-identifies account-related personal information according to our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion procedures.
Media previously submitted under a valid authorization may be subject to separate licensing and retention rules.
Where appropriate, publicly displayed App Media associated with a deleted account may be:
- Removed.
- Made private.
- De-identified.
- Otherwise handled according to the applicable authorization and law.
Original submission records, signed releases, and evidence documenting editorial rights may be retained privately where reasonably necessary.
19. Artificial or Manipulated Media
We aim not to knowingly present materially manipulated, fabricated, or misleading media as an authentic depiction of a real event.
If digitally altered, reconstructed, illustrative, or synthetic material is used in an editorial context where the nature of the material could materially affect a reader’s understanding, we may provide appropriate context or labeling.
Routine technical editing such as:
- Resizing.
- Compression.
- Cropping.
- Color correction.
- Audio leveling.
- Formatting.
does not necessarily require special labeling when it does not materially change the meaning of the underlying material.
20. Political and Public-Issue Coverage
American Truck DriversĀ® may report on political, regulatory, governmental, labor, economic, or other public-policy matters when they are relevant to trucking, transportation, professional drivers, or the public.
Editorial coverage is not determined by advertising relationships or pressure from political organizations, campaigns, carriers, agencies, or other outside interests.
Where significant competing factual perspectives are relevant to a story, we aim to represent them fairly and accurately.
